Update: About Braces

Last month, I went for my first consultation with Dr Stefan Vas at About Braces to get my teeth mould and x-ray done. And today, I am suppose to go back for the treatment planning whereby he will advise me which treatment plan suits me the most and of course the pricing.

The whole treatment planning process was very fast probably because I didn't have much questions. In fact, I actually have forgotten to ask him how long will my treatment take. Well, maybe the price shocked me a little so I was actually calculating the price in my head rather than thinking.

I was told that Invisalign was the best treatment plan for me. Given that, I am getting married in September which metal braces is definitely a no-no. Furthermore, I will not need to extract 4 teeth if I were to opt for Invisalign. Yes, I will need to extract 2 teeth each from upper and lower if I were to do the traditional metal braces so as to make space for the front upper and lower jaw to push in. However with Invisalign, the aligner will help to move each individual teeth so no extraction is required.

So what is Invisalign? Invisalign is a proprietary method of orthodontic treatment which uses a series of clear, removable teeth aligners used as an alternative to traditional metal dental braces.

To be frank, I was expecting the cost to be at the lower range (around $5.5K - $6k) as I thought my teeth was rather okay. But yet is exceed my expectation by quite a lot :( And so, I start thinking if I should actually just wait till after my wedding to do the metal braces instead given that the difference is almost $3k. Even with the 4 teeth extraction, there will still be a $2.5K difference. It is really lots of money to me plus I need to save for our wedding in September as there is still quite a number of things to buy.

However, Lionel ask me to go ahead with Invisalign as to him, if extraction can be avoid then why do I have to make myself go through the pain? To him, it is more of the comfortability and pain but to me, money is also a factor. Yes, it is true that Invisalign will be a better choice givne that no extraction is needed, can start treatment right away, definitely less painful than metal braces and is invisible. Cause the orthodonist will need to pull my front upper and lower teeth backward to fill up the extraction gaps and I reckon it is going to be very painful.

If not because of the price, I guess I will have already start my treatment right away.
Should I do invisalign??
